MainObjectives
- design conceptual models for composite inorganic particle- polymer coatings with nano- micro-patterned surface;
- propose and optimize formulations for magnetic iron oxide nanoparticle production; target uniform size and hydrophobic surface by using specific surfactants;
- particle characterization consisting in size distribution, magnetic field behavior and colloidal stability;
- propose and optimize formulations for polymeric matrix (co-monomer composition, initiator); target specific interaction with nanoparticles to promote controlled colloidal aggregation that results in uniform patterning;
- polymeric matrix characterization regarding chemical composition and molecular weight distribution;
- propose and optimize coating composition (nanoparticle to polymeric matrix ratio, crosslinker and solvent nature and concentration); target easy to apply, cost-effective formulation with high substrate adherence;
- casting method optimization for achieving uniform coating with reproducible nano- micro-roughness;
- coating characterization regarding morphology, adherence to substrate, contact angle with water drops, ice-repelling performance evaluations.
