Objectives and work packages of the research project:
- O1 Key parameters which affect the physico-chemical properties of non-noble metallic NPs supported on SBA-15 prepared by MDI approach.
- O2 Extension of MDI method to non-noble bimetallic NPs supported on SBA-15.
-
O3 Characterization of (bi)metallic catalysts supported on SBA-15.
- O4 Catalytic applications of (bi)metallic catalysts in chemoselective hydrogenation
- O5 Comparative assessment of MDI approach with classical preparation methods.
The proposed program may be dissected into four work packages (WPs):
- The first is the management of the project (WP1)
- The second work package involves the synthesis of mono- and bimetallic NPs supported on SBA-15 by MDI and classical methods (WP2)
- The third work package involves the catalytic study of these materials in the hydrogenation (WP3)
- The fourth work package involves dissemination of knowledge and mobilities (WP4).
Impact, relevance, applications. The project opens-up new opportunities in the field of catalysis based on nanotechnology approaches for industrial applications and development of technologies. Since about 80% of the processes in the chemical industry depend on catalysts to work efficiently, a new understanding and mastery of a broad spectrum of supported NPs-based catalysts could have also high societal impacts. It is therefore anticipated that findings and conclusions of this project will be of high significance for scientists having interests in areas such as materials science, catalysis etc. The proposal also aims to the training of students and young researchers to implement in Romania the materials and catalysis advances.
