Text Box: The proposed research project, namely the investigation of the hybrid systems consisting on the coupled processes of fermentation or enzymatic reaction and synergic pertraction (extraction and transport through liquid membranes) used for some valuable biosynthetic products, joins the top of the worldwide researches on bioprocesses with important applications in medicine, cosmetics, and food.
The main objective of proposed project is to study and design the optimum hybrid systems for production of some valuable compounds for pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and food industries, as antibiotics or precursors (Cephalosporins, 6-aminopenicillanic acid precursor of semisynthetic Penicillins, pseudomonic acid - mupirocin), carboxylic acids (hyaluronic acid, rosmarinic acid), vitamins or precursors (pantothenic acid, 2-ketogluconic acid precursor of vitamin C), and other derivatives (amines, ketones) by coupling the fermentation process or enzymatic reaction with separation by synergic pertraction.
The original objectives of the proposed project and the novelty and scientifically interest of the corresponding potential results could be divided in two groups: (1) studies on individual and selective separation of biosynthetic compounds (from simulated and real fermentation broths or from the enzymatic media by synergic pertraction; (2) optimization of hybrid systems fermentation - synergic pertraction for each group of broths (fungal, bacterial or cells culture) as well as optimization of hybrid systems enzymatic reaction - synergic pertraction for enzymatic media.
The hybrid systems proposed are original, their study and application increasing the scientifical impact (theoretical and practical) of the project. This project will develop the knowledge in the field of hybrid bioprocesses, establishing new mechanisms and kinetics, new combinations of biocompatible carriers or solvents, new hybrid production systems corresponding to new process models and operating conditions.
